FTSG: 2025 TECH TRENDS REPORT

FTSG’s latest Tech Trends Report analyzes the development of technological trends and describes an increasing convergence in which AI, sensor technology and biotechnology are merging to form so-called Living Intelligence systems. These systems are able to perceive their environment, learn, adapt and develop independently. The effects range from real-time biomonitoring to self-optimizing production processes.

At the same time, AI is evolving: instead of purely text-based systems, the focus is increasingly on large action models (LAMs), i.e. AI systems that evaluate behavioral data, make decisions and execute complex processes autonomously. Agentic AI describes systems that set goals themselves, develop strategies and act independently, including in conjunction with other autonomous agents.

More than 125 billion networked devices are expected to provide the data basis for such systems by 2030. Adaptive robotics, personalized AI agents and new materials such as metamaterials are also accelerating the transformation. However, the development is not linear: technological breakthroughs in quantum computing, synthetic biology or edgebased AI are creating new application areas – often simultaneously and intertwined. As a result, change is not only becoming faster, but also more complex to predict. In the report, FTSG warns that organizations could focus on AI alone and lose sight of overarching developments such as living intelligence.
